who.are.the.dimensionists?

After the war ended, the Nox appeared to be mankind's universal enemy, and temporary alliances were formed to hold them back. After several years of continuous fighting against the Nox, the humans began to notice a trend: the areas with higher concentrations of people tended to have a higher number of Nox attacks, while those that were more isolated still thought that they were the things of fairy tales.

Looking into this further, scouts of the allied forces discovered a desert city formed at the end of the Great River. This Oasis town, San Ra`Ahnk, was filled with just as many humans as Nox creatures. However, these Nox seemed to survive through daylight, and appeared to have no intention of attacking the people around them.

Fearful, confused and angry, the scouting teams rushed back to their villages and spread word that they had found the source of the Nox creatures, and that they were actually the desert city's form of weaponry. Armies quickly formed.

Within a week, San Ra`Ahnk was surrounded by troops from around the globe. The battle lasted less than a day, with only those that fled the city surviving. The troops celebrated in San Ra`Ahnk, though briefly- for when night fell, thousands, nay, millions of Nox attacked the soldiers. They suffered the same fate as the desert tribe: only those who ran survived to tell of this story.

As years passed, the story began to change from region to region, as things go with such tales. The oasis city slowly began to thrive back to its former glory. There have been some efforts to try to make contact with the citizens of San Ra`Ahnk, though few venture into this distant part of the land with kind intentions.

Today, only one bloodline in San Ra`Ahnk carries the ability to use dimensional magic- the royal family. Purified Nox are a rare sight, as only the princess Ariane and prince Martin are the only known humans with summoning abilities, and they are but children. Every effort has been made to preserve this sacred trait. An extinction of a school of magic, no matter how controversial and blood-stained from the past, is something that mankind cannot have happen- now more than ever.
